Tuna With A Delicious Latin Twist!

"Have you ever looked in your fridge and your pantry and all you found was a boring can of Tuna?"

Well, that shouldn't be the case. I'm going to show you one of many recipes that you can create using tuna and ingredients that you have at home and we are going to create a delicious appetizer.
First, we are going to get our ingredients together for the first part of this recipe.

INGREDIENTS

1 can of Canned Tuna (rinse out water)

2 tablespoons of Mayonnaise

1/2 of a squeezed lemon or lime. I prefer lemon (save the other half for garnish)

1 small onion diced
3 Cilantro or Recao leaves diced

1 small tomato diced

Now that you have all of these ingredients ready we are going to mix them all in with the tuna. Once they are mixed in well you can cover it in a bowl and place it in the refrigerator to marinade all those flavor into the tuna. While that happens we are going to create the second part of our recipe.

What better Latin twist than the very famous Tostones?
Also known as fried plantains to accompany

Get your plantains ready.
Peel them and cut them as close as you can to the picture shown..

After they are sliced you can add them to hot oil to fry.

Once they are golden take them out and put them on a paper towel to remove all excess of oil.

Then you can start mashing them with a tostonera featured in the picture OR anything that has a flat surface that will help create the "toston"

Re fry them and wait until they become even more golden and a bit crunchy.

Wasn't that easy? As soon as your "tostones" are out of the oil place them on a paper towel for the same reason as before and immediately sprinkle them with salt for flavor while they are still hot.

You can now plate your Latin twist tuna and your delicious tostones. Garnish them with the other half of the lemon we used in this recipe and why not use a little mojito on the side!

Enjoy your new Latin Twist Tuna and say goodbye to boring tuna!
